Last year after hearing a father play the guitar while his two daughters played the violin at the ward Christmas party, I was a changed person. It was so beautiful and touching it suddenly dawned on me that my girls needed to play the violin! I immediately got them going on violin lessons. Skyla decided it was a bit too much practising since she already had to do piano (piano lessons are free so they're not optional), but Sierra fell in love. She's been doing it for less than a year and yet last Sunday she was able to perform in sacrament meeting. It was so beautiful. She played with her teacher, another incredible violinist in the ward, one of her friends, and one of the daughters that originally inspired me. I videotaped it (in church, I know! Is that bad??) and one day when I learn to edit my videotapes, I'll post it. Hopefully you can hear it from all my sniffling. Yes, I was crying. I'm so proud of her! This Sunday she performed with the Villa Sinefora Orchestra in San Francisco. She memorized 8 songs in 3 weeks to be able to do this. I love this about Sierra - once she puts her mind on something there is nothing to stop her. She is an amazing little girl!
Now I just have to work on the next part of my dream to work - David playing the guitar...

Good job Sierra! I hope I can see the video sometime! I loved listening to you play while you were here! I bet you did a "fantabulous" job! :)
This is so great. I'll bet it's wonderful to hear her play.
I *always* get emotional when my kids perform -- like my mother before me. I just can't help it.
We absolutely want to be invited to Sierra's next performance! Maybe it would inspire my own kids...
I love listening to little kids play the violin! Way to go Sierra.
Oh what kindred spirits we are. I totally want to take pictures and video of the kids church performances. Maybe now I will dare, thanks to you! Sierra is so beautiful. Breathtaking pictures of her with a violin. It's precious to see children with instruments. I just wish I could hear her.
