One cool thing about being at my parent's house is that the elves come visit on New Year's! If you leave out your stocking, they will fill it if you've taken care of your new toys. My kids were thrilled with this tradition and wondered why they haven't come to OUR house before...

I seem to remember (and document) the big events in our lives - birthdays, holidays, job changes... But what I want to remember is the little things - the way David and I hold hands, the way Karsten looks with his hands behind his head without a care in the world, Skyla's giggle, and Sierra's ability to block the world when she's reading. So here's to what I want to remember the most... the little moments of our lives that equal a much bigger picture.

Pronounced "Twenty ten", not "two thousand and ten", according to my mom. :)
We had so much fun bringing in the new year
with my parents. Nana and Papa know how to Par-tay! We played games and watched movies and had super yummy food. I glanced at the clock and it was almost 11 so we quickly scrambled getting everything ready (includin
g changing the clocks to reflect an hour later so my kids would be tricked) to bring in the new year at 11. Then we proceeded to play and talk and didn't get to bed until after midnight anyway. We could've just celebrated at 12! Oh well.

Wait, what elves? Why don't I know about this? I haven't had any elves come to my house. Maybe I'm not taking care of my toys. :)
Shhh! You really should keep that a Marshall family secret! Your kids' friends' parents are going to be none too happy to find out this tradition ;) Just kidding! Your mom is so amazing at making EVERYTHING in life worth celebrating. No wonder you turned out the way you did. It is one of my many favorite things about you!!!
