Party on Key Route Blvd!

David and I have been married for 13 years, and this is the first time we have bought a house. That's what moving around every couple of years will do! But we just discovered the biggest pert of home ownership - a block party!!! (Which I realized you don't have to own a house to be a part of a neighborhood, but we've never even lived in a normal neighborhood...) Anyway, our section of Key Route blocked off the street, got a huge jumpy house and we had a party! It was so much fun to mingle with our neighbors and walk in the middle of the street. The firemen even came with a truck and talked with us about safety and then let the kids explore the fire truck and even squirt water from the fire hose!!! Now that's what I call a Par-tee!

I just love Albany. I love how everything is walking distance. We can ride our bikes to school and to Karsten's preschool and to the post office and our favorite ice cream store. If I was really motivated, I could even ride bikes to the grocery store (which I have done a few times, but only in emergencies... :)) I'm pretty sure this is the only place where we will ever live that I will be able to do this - especially with the weather being so great all the time.

We got a great dose of community this month by going to Music in the Park on Wednesdays in September. We would take dinner and meet friends and listen to some great bands. I'm so sad they don't do this longer. There's something about packing up your food and eating it outside that makes it so much more fun. Left - Karsten and Skyla dancing in the park.
