Happy Birthday David!
Friday night we had a fabulous date to his favorite place - Albany Hot Tubs! David LOVES hot water. So much so he will actually sit down in the shower and just enjoy the hot water. This time he got a massage in addition to the hot tubbing. What could be better for this hard working guy?!Saturday we went on a family 7 1/2 mile run. The girls rode their bikes while I pushed Karsten in the stroller and he had the dog. What a sight we were! It was awesome though. The girls rode their bikes that far and then Skyla had her first soccer game of the season. Not only was she not tired, but she scored a goal!!!
We headed to the beach for dinner with the Dullum's. I bought a generic brand of charcoil and so two hours later, our dinner STILL wasn't cooked. So we made our smores first which, amazingly enough, the kids didn't seem to mind. :) When our dinner was finally ready, it sure tasted great!!! It was so fun eating with the crashing waves and laughing kids the background noise. How crazy that we're at the beach in March!
Today (Sunday) was his favorite dinner of Hawaiin Haystacks and we finally had his birthday treat and sang to him. We had crepes for dessert. He didn't give up on his no-sugar plan even for his birthday! I'm so proud of him. My sister gave him a whole bag of sugar-free goodies for his birthday. He was so excited to have a treat while watching a movie. The funniest gift was an Obama book from my parents. To say my mom doesn't like Obama is an understatement and so I just can't picture her having to carry this big book to the counter and actually pay money for it! It was so thoughtful of her!
I've always known that David was a great person and these past couple of weeks he has exceeded all definitions of love and understanding and he has truly been my rock. I'm so lucky that he's my guy!
We love this guy!!!

Happy Birthday! What a fun post! You looked pretty loved! Sounds like a fun day---love the beach idea! I can never get enough of the beach! Hope this year brings you everything you want and hope Obama delivers!!!
Yay for David! It was so fun talking to him last night. I'm glad he liked his "treats". I was worried that he'd be like, "What is this? I don't want any form of sweets." So I'm glad to know it was fun for him. And I love that mom bought that Obama bok. I looked through it. It was pretty cool. Happy Bday David!!!
Mindy! You really know how to make things special for those around you. What a fun weekend-LOVE the pictures, especially the last one.
I am so sorry about your dad and the trial your family is faced with. What a blessing to this man of "steel" to have such love and support.
Happy Birthday David!
That is so funny that you mentioned his love of hot water! I had a flashback to California when we were younger and my parents having to turn the water line off in order to get him out of the shower. He'd only been in there for FOREVER!! I think he even fell asleep occasionally!
Happy Birthday, brother! I love you and you have the cutest, sweetest family EVER!!! I love how much you adore your family and how much they adore you, too!
This looks like the perfect birthday! And still no sugar, even on his birthday!
Sounds like a fabulous way to celebrate a birthday!! I need to convince my kids about the family run part.
What a fun birthday. I want dutch oven and smores on the beach. Jealous.
David looks wonderful! How could he not, with that good looking family as an accessory? No, seriously, I a so impressed! And Happy Birthday too, David! Mindy, you are in my thoughts and prayers constantly. Oh, life! It's SO GOOD, and yet... We love you Hymas family, and are here for you, come what may...
