Ode to Owen

Yesterday was Karsten's best buddy Owen's birthday. Owen and Karsten have been friends since they met when Karsten was just 10 months old (which is the exact age that Sierra was when she met her very best friend Adri!). They've been troublemakers ever since. I love these two boys together! They have the perfect blend of personalities. Owen is older and smarter so he comes up with the schemes but needs Karsten's fearlessness to put the plan in motion. They are both obsessed with trains and cars. They love their "fast shoes" and sippy cups and when they get in trouble they immediately blame the other. "It was Karsten's idea." "Owen did it." I am so happy that Karsten has learned what true friendship is at such a young age. So thanks Owen for putting up with Karsten's messy face (this drives Owen crazy!) and being such a good friend.

So Happy Birthday to Karsten's partner in crime...

Owen

How cute!

I keep waiting for Isaac to care about his messy face -- he is 10 and still regularly comes home from school with ketchup around his mouth. I don't know how he can stand it, but it doesn't bother him at all. I guess he is lacking a friend like Owen to dole out a little peer pressure.

(I do figure that about three years from now Isaac will notice girls and that might motivate him to clean up. Or maybe he will just gravitate towards girls who like boys with dirty faces . . .)

They really are the cutest partners in crime ever! And they can play together for hours with out fighting, and they come up with the cutest things. The other day they decided to "take a nap" out on the trampoline complete with pillows and blankets.

I love Karsten to death! He always has a smile for me and always makes me smile. He's so adorable and he says the funniest things! One of my favorites is when Owen was peeing in the bushes and Karsten was "taking notes" for the future. All of a sudden he pointed at Owen's stream and in that cute little voice of his said, "It looks like SODA!"
